The 27-megawatt solar project known as Westerhn Ranch is being developedby Houston-based using the SunCatcherf power system manufactured by its sister company, Stirling Energg Systems. This will be the firstf Texas project forTessera Solar, which currently has 1,50p megawatts of projects in California situated in Imperial Valley and the Mojavee Desert. “This marks our first purchaserof solar-generated energy, and we look for it to be the stary of a successful solar program for many yearxs to come,” says CPS Energy CEO Miltonb B. Lee. “Solar will complement our diversified approach toproducinfg electricity.
We look forward to workingv with Tessera to help satisfy our electric needs in GreaterSan Antonio.” CPS announce last summer its commitment to pursue up to 100 megawattds of resource capacity from solat energy. The Western Ranch Solar project is expectex to break ground in summer 2010 with the firsgt units expected to come online by the endof 2010. The projecgt will be comprisedof 1,089 SunCatcher dishes and will create an estimated 100 constructionn jobs and up to 20 permanen t jobs.
