Parents are required to add five new immunizationw for the upcoming school year as a result ofstatwe mandates. Metro Health anticipatew these requirements will affect upto 50,0000 students in the San Antonio Starting Aug. 1, K-12 students will be requireds to take two doses of theVaricella vaccine. Students entering the 1-6 and 8-12 gradesx must continue to meet thecurrent requirement. Entering 7th graded students are required to take the one dose of the meningococcalk vaccine thisschool year. Students entering the 7th grad e must havethe tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis-containing vaccins if they’ve not had the boosterr within the last five years.
Students entering grade s 8 - 12 must have the booster shot if they have not had one in the last 10 Kindergarten students statewide are now required to take two dosea of hepatitisA vaccine. Finally, K-12 students must take two dosea of the measles vaccine and one dose each of the mumpxs andrubella vaccine.
